''The idea for "CoastalFolk" first began in 1998 with a recording by Soundside Studio (Gary Mitchell -- producer) and the Ocracoke Presrvation Society entitled "The OcraFolk Music Sampler." This CD documented the wide variety of musical talent present on the tiny Ocraocke Island, NC (pop 700). Out of these successful beginnings came a popular weekly summer concert series at Deepwater Theater (The OcraFolk Opry) and a festival of the same name: The OcraFolk Music and Storytelling Festival.
This CD expands on the idea by presenting a sampler of Americana music by popular performers from all over coastal North Carolina. Enjoy!'-- From the liner notes
