Soundside Studio on Ocracoke Island, operated by Gary Mitchell of Molasses Creek, specializes in recording folk and Americana artists of the southeast with terrific quality at an affordable price. The 24 track studio has an extensive selection of professional microphones, preamps and outboard gear. Projects range from storytellers such as Donald Davis (our recording won a “Parents Choice Award”) to singer/songwriters such as Noah Paley (selected for “Best of Back Porch Music” CD radio sampler on WUNC), Bob Zentz, Martin Garrish, John Golden and Anne Haley, to bands such as Molasses Creek, Fiddler Dave, Scuttlebutt, and The Ocracoke Rockers. Gary’s extensive experience has helped many artists produce their first CD project, all the way from recording through duplication and distribution. Gary feels that experience, and a good ear, are the keys to a great recording. A variety of studio musicians are also available at reasonable rates.
