Hailing from Norfolk, Virginia, Skye is a musical-poet with a strong foundation in two genres: folk and choral music. She has been writing songs since the age of 3. Raised in practice rooms and on stage at her father's guitar shop, Skye was involved in the thick of the Tidewater Folk Music scene early on. She was one of thirty selected to attend Virginia's Summer Governors School Vocal Department in 2000. She has also performed with the Virginia Opera as a supernumerary. She has performed at the State Fair of Virginia in Richmond and Hampton's Bay Days Festival as well as the Ocrafolk Festival. this album's conception and creation has been a strand of well-nourished dreams coming true. none of it would have been possible without the resonance. love. support, and gene pool of my word-bird mother and my troubadour father, also. to john, my pa, for boundless enthusiasm! thanks a plenty to uncle gary, my producer and confidence booster, for taking on these songs of mine, and harvesting them with sweet gentility.
